How local SEO works for a service business, in plain English
When someone in your town searches “fence repair near me” at nine on a Tuesday night, Google shows three things: a map with three businesses, a handful of organic results, and ads. Local SEO is the work of getting you into that map and those results, and keeping you there. It is not magic and it is not a one time fix; it is a set of weekly habits done consistently, which is exactly why most owners never get around to it and why an agency that actually does the habits wins.
The four things SEO is made of
- Your Google Business Profile. Categories, services, photos, posts, reviews and a consistent name, address and phone number across the web. This is most of the map pack.
- Your website’s technical health. Speed, mobile layout, schema, sitemap, indexing, broken links. Our monthly technical sessions work through a fix list of eight to fifteen items.
- Content. Blog posts and social posts, published every week, written for the questions your customers actually type: costs, timelines, what to expect, how to choose.
- Authority. Links and citations from real, relevant places. The DA-40 sprint on the Momentum plan is a sixty one day push on this one.
What you see, and when
SEO is slow, then fast. Weeks one to four are the audit, the fix list and the first content going out; you will see the technical bar move in your portal before you see rankings move. Weeks four to eight are where keyword positions start climbing for the long, specific searches. Months three to six are where the map pack and the short, competitive searches follow. Every step is tracked weekly and reported on the first of the month: posts published, best keyword climb, fixes completed, and a link to the portal so you can check any of it yourself.
Why month to month
Most SEO agencies lock you in for twelve months precisely because results are slow and they would rather not re earn the fee every thirty days. We do the opposite. Every plan is month to month, and the report on the first is our argument for the next month. If it stops being a good argument, cancel; there is no notice period and no exit fee.
Picking a plan
Signal at $299 is for a single location business in a normal market: two blogs and two social posts a week, two technical sessions a month, weekly rank and Domain Authority tracking, daily SMS reports. Momentum at $599 is the most common choice: three and three, three sessions, and the DA-40 authority sprint by day 61. Authority at $999 is for competitive metros where five posts a week is the price of entry. Enterprise at $1,499 covers multi location operators with seven posts a week and seven sessions a month. If you are not sure, the free two minute audit will tell you which one, and it is free whether you hire us or not.
SEO and the rest of the system
Rankings are worth nothing if the call goes to voicemail. That is why we usually put the AI Sales Agent on the line before or alongside an SEO plan: the searches you win at 9 pm get answered at 9 pm. And SEO compounds with ads rather than competing with them; a business that ranks organically pays less per click on Google Search because its landing page already has the relevance signals. If you want the technical background, Moz’s explanation of Domain Authority is the metric behind our weekly DA checks and the sprint target.
Questions owners ask about SEO
Do I need a new website first? Not always. If the site is hand coded and fast, SEO can start on it tomorrow. If it is a slow page builder site, we will say so in the audit, because pouring content into a site that loads in six seconds is wasted money.
Who writes the content? We do, from an intake about your services, prices, service area and the questions customers ask you on the phone. You approve the first month’s posts; after that they publish on schedule and you see them in the report.
What if I have bad reviews? Reviews are part of local SEO, so we build a simple review request into the AI Sales Agent’s job complete text and into your invoicing flow. More recent, real reviews outweigh an old bad one faster than anything else does.
Can I see what you did? Every week. The portal shows rank changes, published posts, the technical fix list and Domain Authority, and the daily SMS is a one line summary. Nothing about SEO here is a black box.
Is one month enough to judge? No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Two to three months shows real movement on specific searches; six months shows the map pack. But you get a report after month one and you are free to leave after it, which keeps us honest.
Where SEO pays off first
Trades with a clear service and a clear town win fastest: fencing in Abbotsford, pest control in Chilliwack, painting in Victoria, seasonal work in Grande Prairie, accounting in Oshawa. The searches are specific, the competition is mostly businesses that never publish anything, and one steady month of content puts you ahead of most of them. Multi service and multi location businesses take longer because there are more pages and more profiles to build authority for, which is what the Authority and Enterprise plans are sized for. Either way the method is the same: a fix list you can read, content every week, rankings tracked every week, and a report on the first that tells you whether SEO earned its fee that month.

No contract on any SEO plan. The monthly report is the pitch for the next month.
